Does the Arizona Controversy affect the DC area?

Why am I discussing the Arizona controversy?  To be honest with you, although Arizona is in the news, the situation with people coming into this country illegally affects all of us.

We live in a politically correct environment these days.  In the past, such individuals were referred to as “illegal aliens” and now they are called “illegal immigrants” or  “undocumented workers”.

I question the term, “undocumented workers”.  Why?  Because many of those who cross over into this country are criminals. Many of them are going after children for perverse reasons. Many are drug dealers. Too many of them are breaking into homes, and some of them are engaging in the crime of murder.

As an American citizen who loves this great country and who enjoys the benefits of living here, I certainly feel for those who have good intentions and who simply want to move here for the opportunity to better themselves. On the other hand, I fully comprehend how the states such as Texas and Arizona are frustrated by the whole border issue, as they are hit hard.

We have rules for a reason. Those who want to live here need to follow the proper channels to become citizens. That’s only fair.

For my part—as a business owner, I only hire those who are in the country legally and whose backgrounds I can trace via a thorough background check. It is my obligation to protect my clients.

None of us have the final answer regarding this important issue. I know I don’t. I just pray for a positive resolution for all concerned.
