To that end, for the second year, UpperCrust Maids is lending its support to the Mautner Project. This worthy cause raises money to assist specifically lesbian women who are stricken with and battling cancer. Like last year, we are donating three cleanings to be auctioned off.

Due to budget reductions, the commonwealth’s Department of Transportation is looking for residents to help keep the grass cut along state roads. Nearly half of VDOT’s annual mowing budget was cut. Right now, grass along low-volume primary and most secondary routes will be mowed no more than twice. The lawn mower will visit unpaved routes and subdivision streets once unless the tall grass presents a safety issue.

This is the perfect opportunity for some old fashioned community bonding and fellowship. This could be a positive thing for VA residents…..and even a great way for students to earn community service hours if it’s not considered too dangerous for them to be out there. Let us take a hint from communities such as the Amish who are known to help each other out in hard times. Grab those lawn mowers, Virginia and start working!

The deal gets posted to the Deals for Deeds website with the understanding that an agreed upon target number of consumers must purchase the highlighted product or service before the deal is finalized.

The reason UpperCrust Maids supports this organization is because we like the fact that this grassroots organization is personable.  They go straight to the needs of the women, offering financial and emotional support.

The fundraiser that I attended tonight was in the form of a pleasant cocktail party where we were lavished with all types of delicious edibles and treated like royalty.  During the cocktail portion, a silent fund raising auction took place (UpperCrust donated 4 cleanings to the auction).

The evening ended with a fashion show that had a hilarious and fun twist.  The models took their cute little pooches down the runway with them and yes, the pooches stole the show.
