Hi there!  Thanks for stopping by.  My husband, Greg and I established UpperCrust Maids in December, 2007 to offer premier service to clients like you.

Our Story

    People often ask me how I got involved in the cleaning industry.  Greg and I had had an addition put on our home and of course, the entire home was dusty and needed a complete cleaning.  Once the addition was completed, the contractor told us to hire a cleaning company (at their expense) to come in and clean.

    I quickly noticed that the two women who came were not at all trained. They had no idea regarding how a house should be cleaned.  Therefore, I literally walked them from room to room and taught them how to clean a home.  I had always wanted to start my own company but was not sure what direction to take. It was at that point that the idea came to me to start a cleaning service—and to train employees regarding how to clean a home properly.

    After a tremendous amount of research and consultations with various professionals, UpperCrust Maids, LLC was established. We hired our first employee and opened up shop in December, 2007.

Here is what sets us apart from our competitors

We are a niche cleaning company and as such, we are selective about which clients we take on.  Unlike most cleaning companies, we rarely take on “one time only” accounts.  One time only and occasional clients are not given a reserved space on our calendar but are serviced based on availability.

Our goal is to build lasting relationships with clients and to perfect our skills in their homes.  There are times when—depending on the complexity of a home, it may take the cleaning techs a month or two of “tweeking” just to discover what products and equipment are best suited for that particular home. We customize as opposed to treating each home exactly the same.

We are focused and fine-tuned.  As much as possible, I visit each and every home to offer on site estimates. I take notes and I give specific, customized direction to my employees. I have been known to go out and purchase various products specifically for certain homes based on need.  We specialize in using environmentally friendly products.

Regarding our house cleaning services, employees only clean 2 homes per day.  Other cleaning companies have their employees clean between 4 – 6 homes per day, meaning that the time in each home is shortened.  Our cleaning techs are able to take their time and clean your home well, every time.  Are they perfect?  No, but they certainly do strive for perfection.

We are family owned. This means that we actually do care about each and every home. You are not a “number” to us and we know exactly what your home needs and how those needs can and will be met.  My husband and I know each and every client by name.  And we plan to keep it that way!Our competition is franchises. Make no mistake about it. Franchise cleaning companies are more concerned about selling more franchises than they are about you or your home. That’s the difference!

Superior customer service.  Our clients tell us all the time that they love the personalized attention they receive. At any given time, I might call or email a client to ensure that they are still happy and that service to their home is not slipping.  When there is a problem, they know they may call my home, cell, or business line…or email me and that I’ll get back to them right away if I’m not available when they first contact me.

Satisfaction guaranteed.  We are fair and realistic.  Our goal is to ensure that your home is cleaned well. If at any time you are not pleased with service, call right away and I’ll ensure that the situation is taken care of.

Peace of mind.  There is something about coming home to a freshly cleaned, lovely home.  It goes to peace of mind.  We actually care about the type of mood our clients will be in upon coming home from work and seeing their home after we’ve been in there cleaning it.  We strive to do our best to fulfill the promises we make to our clients.

Screened workers. We hire only individuals who have been carefully screened.

Bonded and insured – Very few cleaning companies (other than franchises) are covered by bonding, Workers Comp and Liability insurance. We are, which means that you need not worry about having our employees in your home.

We have recently extended our service areas to include Alexandria, Arlington and parts of Fairfax, Virginia.  We also take on clients from various parts of DC, Montgomery and Prince Georges Counties.

***Planned Expansion: Some time in late 2010 – early 2011, we plan to offer professional carpet cleaning services to our clients.  In addition, we will add on tile and grout cleaning as well as gutter cleaning.

The owners’ background

UpperCrust Maids, LLC is owned by Greg and Cathy Green.  Greg and I live in the quaint, beautiful little town of Cheverly, Maryland.  I call it the town where time stood still.

Greg has a B.A. degree in Social Sciences.  I have a M.S. degree in Speech-language Pathology.  As home owners ourselves, one of our primary goals in starting the business was to offer consumers the option of using a company that genuinely cares about their homes and the quality of the service that each home receives and deserves.

Presently, I do most of the training for the company.  Greg acts more as an advisor and often comes along with me for first time estimates.
